Your eyes, on demand

Ariadne Sense is a voice assistant for blind and visually impaired people. It describes your surroundings, warns about obstacles and reads text aloud, in real time.

Requires iOS 17.6 or later. The app has no ads or tracking.

The world can be a labyrinth designed by the sighted

Unmarked crossings. Announcements only on screens. Documents only in print. That's not a flaw in your sight. It's a flaw in the design of the world.

The cane and the guide dog are the foundation. Ariadne adds what the cane can't reach. Scroll to hear what that sounds like.

Hazards come first

First, what could hit you

Post, on the right, very close.

The phone vibrates harder the closer the obstacle gets, and below the safety threshold it starts to pulse. A hazard message interrupts everything else.

Surroundings

The world described your way

Door on the left, within reach.

Always the same structure: what, which side, how far. “Within reach” says more than “sixty centimetres”.

The way ahead

Calm when nothing threatens

Path straight ahead.

A short confirmation is enough to keep walking, without stopping or asking around.

On demand

Say what you're looking for

I'm looking for the remote.

The app guides you to a lost item and lets you know when it's in the frame.

You can also ask about colors, about text, about the time or about compass directions. Ariadne answers your questions.

This is Ariadne Sense

It turns what the iPhone's camera sees into information you can hear and feel, exactly when you need it. Every step is still your decision.

What Ariadne Sense can do

One app that combines artificial intelligence, the camera and your iPhone's sensors to help you understand your surroundings.

Describes surroundings

The voice assistant continuously describes what's in front of you, including objects, people, the room and the path ahead.

When it helps: In a new place, when you want to know what's around before you take a step.

Warns about obstacles

Voice and vibration warn you about obstacles: curbs, steps, posts. The closer you are, the stronger the vibration.

When it helps: On the move and in noise, or alongside the AI description.

Reads text aloud

Reads a letter, label, medication leaflet, menu or document. Text recognition runs on your device.

When it helps: An official letter, a medication leaflet, a menu, without waiting for someone's help.

Helps find things

Say what you're looking for and the app guides you and lets you know when the object appears in frame.

When it helps: The remote, a mug, a door, when something is “somewhere here” but you don't know where.

Use cases

How Ariadne Sense helps every day

The app recognizes where you are and adapts how it works: at home, on the street or in an unfamiliar place.

Outdoors

When you leave home the app detects you're outside and warns you: what, on which side, how far, e.g. “Post, on the right, very close.”

Reading

Point your phone at a letter, bill or medication leaflet, and the app reads the text aloud. It reads a book in full.

In a hazardous situation

When a situation is dangerous, the assistant first tells you how to avoid the hazard.
